She is Rumble Helmet Founder and a PhD candidate in Computer Science and Engineering at University of Bridgeport who worked on different projects including building modular robots that are capable of evolving in an environment where self-assembly, self-reconfiguration, and self-repair take place to allow space exploration and hazardous environment rescue with better reliability, safety, and speed compared with sending people on these missions. Reem got two patents for inventing Rumble – a smart bicycle helmet with embedded adaptive light notification system that can be activated using hand signals to increase the cyclists visibility and safety. The hand free operation is as easy to the cyclist as it is combined with the hand signals. So, all the cyclist needs to do is to carry out the appropriate hand signal to activate the corresponding turn signal. Now, she is establishing a new company to produce the helmets to the public. She was the first female Technical Account Manager in Microsoft Saudi Arabia before relocating to the USA, where she initiated a diversity program to include more female employees. She also has demonstrated leadership that encourages diversity and inclusion by being a NASA datanaut, mentoring other female students, acting as IEEE Section Ambassador and SWE Outreach Representative, and giving speeches to empower women in STEM.
